Welcome to the DCAF Trust Fund for North Africa website
Since 2011, North Africa has witnessed important political changes. In their search for a new future, societies in North Africa have identified security sector reform as necessary for ensuring democratic transition, restoring public confidence in the state and its institutions, and preventing violence.
In response to these changes sweeping across the region, the member states of the Geneva Centre for Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF) have created the Trust Fund for North Africa. Its purpose is to rapidly and flexibly respond to requests for assistance from the governments of Tunisia, Egypt, Libya and Morocco. Specifically, DCAF assists these countries in strengthening parliamentarian oversight, improving access to information, structuring civil-military relations, and facilitating communication between citizens and authorities, to name a few examples.
On this website you will find all the useful information about the Trust Fund for North Africa, its structure, functioning and objectives. You will also find links to DCAF projects and activities in North Africa, as well as a members’ section for Trust Fund donors.
We hope that this platform will give you a better understanding of our activities. However, should you have any questions concerning the Trust Fund, please do not hesitate to contact us.
